Dr. Amsel’s distinguished career spans clinical practice, academic psychiatry, and forensic consultation. A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine and Columbia University’s School of Public Health, he has spent nearly three decades at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, where his research and teaching continue to shape the field.
As a nationally recognized expert in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Suicide, Grief, Medical Decision-Making, and Psychiatric Malpractice, Dr. Amsel has served as both a trusted clinician and an expert witness in complex legal matters.
